French Hilarity

I’m going to University in Brussels next year and as I’m not all that great a French speaker (having not studied the language for four years) I don’t have a lot of confidence. Luckily, they have language courses.
The stinger:

You have to take a language test to get onto the language course, and if they don’t think you’re good enough, they’ll send you home!

I so hope that’s not me.

I hope so too! Perhaps this planned work and possible exchange will help - or you can do a paid for language course before you sit the test!

c has the right idea and I can add only one more possible hint: pop over to Paris for the weekend and bring some charming garçon back to the island with you for an extended stay. That’ll learn you good! Bon chance!

yeh, just don’t tell the boyf;)
    (just kidding!)

you could also chat to mirs sporadically- before or after the exchange/ work in France- to get you into the groove…

i really hope that doesn’t happen to you pat, that would really suck.

Well I’m thinking some time in France over the summer wouldn’t be a bad thing. I have a potential exchange-type of whatsit with a guy who lives a couple million miles outside Paris, some of Caroline’s friends’ friends may know of somewhere I can do some low-level (ie not national security) work in Paris over the summer which may mean I could do that and live with her delightful (I’m sure, not having actually met her) Mother-in-Law who lives in lovely rather central Paris without making a pauper of myself by paying more than I earn (as in probably nothing) just to work for someone else…
Or I can work on a farm. I keep forgetting to actually look into working on a farm because I’m sure in time they’ll fill up with crazy whacko people like me who want to work for nothing and just get sun and language in exchange for their toil (though I hope they consider the occasional meal and a shower as part of the deal too).
