My thoughts join those prayers of millions around the world for the Pope, a strong leader through decades of great change. The Vatican’s normally imperturbable spokesman, Dr. Joaquin Navarro-Valls is shown here choking back tears whilst discussing the Pope’s condition on Friday. Though I don’t agree with all the Pope says, all he stands for, his position of responsibility before millions billions of people is one to be respected. John Paul II is a member of a immense group, those sick across the world.
Whenever the public’s attention is brought upon the sickness of a public figure I find myself thinking of all the other people who don’t have doting advisors and helpers. It’s my version of prayer, contemplation and good wishes without a focus on a god. My point is that, the Pope is ill and I hope that is suffering is alleviated soon, however that might be achieved, and with it the suffering of all those in pain and suffering at this time.
Pope in ‘Very Grave’ Condition
UPDATE @ 7pm GMT:
Over the last hour the Vatican has announced the the Pope’s condition has “significantly worsened” during the course of the day, detailing his major problems including very shallow breathing and a drop in blood pressure. In Poland, the Pope’s home country, the Archbishop of Krakow, Franciszek Macharski - told his audience: “Do not feel shame at showing your emotion and at shedding tears.” The Archbishop has for long been a friend of the Pope.
