Johari/Nohari Questions

March 5th, 2006 § 3

Nohari and Johari Windows are a method of analysing the personality of an individual. By selecting, from a list, the characteristics that can be associated with a person, one can determine some traits that are understood or known to oneself and those that are not. By asking people who know you to fill in your own personal ‘window’, you can find ‘blind spots’ in personality and see how you are perceived by others. It’s not always an enjoyable process because, though the Johari window is associated with positive personality traits, the Nohari window looks at negative terms.

There is also a degree to which one tries to take a pragmatic approach to the question: do you take a direct approach and tell the person how you feel, or do you couch your answers in less harsh and cutting language. Some results make the judge look better than others and if the analysis is not anonymous, there can be clear reasons for not taking an overly critical approach to the exercise. If you know me and like me, or if you know me and hate me, tell me why!

Johari (goodness)
and
Nohari (badness)

Tell me who I really seem to be to you. I know this hard, and I think it is too. If you want me to think long and hard about you, make your own window and share it with the world! You can always post a link in the comments.

How can ANYONE even try to describe you in 5/6 words? 5 or 6 pages is more likely to give a better impression. But hey, its just a bit of fun! ;)

Hey pat, i thought this was an interesting idea- but damn hard as well! I found myself not wanting to put down the ‘bad’ ones, and having to think of the context in which they are ‘bad’. Of course, it’s just a bit of fun, as Caroline says, but i also didnt want to hurt your feelings! Im glad ppl had done it before me, else i may well have chickened out..
Hope you’re feelin funky mi dearie.

    Roisin xx

I know! I had to do it a couple times for a friend of mine (since the website wasn’t working at first or something) and so I not only had to go through very high blood pressure several times since it’s so stressful, but I found that I was actually giving changing answers. Each time I filled in the forms, my positions altered! Not good at all!

But thanks, both of you for filling them out, I’m just going to go look at what’s great about me now!
