Rude Awakening

The first indication that they were going to be difficult was the manner of their arrival. As the bus drew up to their stop, the guys stepped into the street, forcing the driver to swerve out into the road to avoid them. Grasping the handrails next to the doors, they eventually got on, jumping up the steps like keen little gazelle who’re eager to please and apprehensive of showing any signs of weakness from their night out on the town. As one talked to the driver, the other boy casually leaned against the wall, wafting his hand through the air in area representing the middle of the stairs, where a metal hand bar would normally be. He was however, far too cool to actually look and see what was happening; his hand wasn’t making any contact with metal, leaving the arm drifting around, grasping at nothing, but alerting all of the other passengers to their feigned aloof detachment.
They walked past me, swaggering along and, speaking to no-one in particular but their own amusement said, “…saw you earlier”. I didn’t really care, much notice they’d have taken anyway. As two girls got up to leave the bus at the next stop, they called out to one, making their pathetic attempts at cool all the more apparent.

“Hottie in the brown skirt. Hottie in skirt, you’re hot. Hottie in brown skirt, brown-brown-brownish belt, brownie-black-grey-dark colored top… you’re hot!”
She turned around and gave them the finger. No, actually she didn’t, for she behaved in exactly the same was as everyone else on the bus, and ignored their comments entirely, save a raised eyebrow to the busdriver as she hopped off the bus, the driver’s rear-view mirror angled exactly right so I could see her physical groan of disgust…

  1. Not the start to the evening that you wanted then. Hope it was good, although the time that you posted this was a tad early for a successful night clubbing…
Hope you catch up with your sleep today! Caroline ;)
