Pointless websites?

I don’t understand: I came across this website earlier whilst looking for something else, the soon-to-be-announced Apple AirTunes remote control. They have something short about it on the site. I thought it was kind of interesting so go up a level and find out what the site’s about because it has a generic “all the best” tagline. And what is it? I don’t know.
Seriously, I don’t know what the point of this thing is. It looks like a whole load of links that point to really obvious websites that anyone with a brain could find by typing what they want into a search engine. It has links to news, but doesn’t include the BBC and calls the AP’s news ‘yahoo news’. Why have yahoo and not Google?
They have a seach section and then, strangely, have a link to ‘blog’ at the end of it which appears to lead to an (?) author’s personal blog. They have Potterybarn but not Ikea, Dell but not HP. And does the computer industry really need a website to give them a link to the Microsoft, Cisco or Oracle websites?
They have links to refrigerators, then stoves, then childrens books!

I hate this site so much, it’s unreal: it has nopoint.

  1. One shudders to imagine just how many hungry millions never could find Amazon.com or EBay, before this marvelous website came into existence. But it begs the question of how they will ever find hypnoticnet.com in the first place, in order to receive the necessary guidance? Thank heaven for saints like yourself, P., who tirelessly devote themselves to steering the unenlightened toward salvation!

  2. I know! I’m just crazy like that: so philanthropic! Good point: how do people get there? I mean, out of all seriousness, who would link to a site like that.

Does it explain things to mention that I got there through gizmodo? That kind of site I suppose.
