Backbiting and piss-taking, LRB Personals Ad

This ad appears in the LRB personals column today, apparently a swift look at the knowing, intellectually smug, post modern, Tracy Emin style of clever personals that perpetuate the site at the moment.
Don’t ask why I was looking at the collection, I’d only tell you that it was for fun. No secret admirers hidden in the texts as far as I’m aware.

Rice Krispies are as relevant today as they ever were.

PS2 is a challenge to post-modernity. Abramovich has changed the game beyond recognition – the lower leagues are where the real football is. Director’s Cut, it has to be the Director’s Cut. People forget just how good a lyricist Cathal Coughlan is. She moved back to Italy to be with her parents. Buy the boxset – it’s worth it for the gatefold alone. Hunter S. Thompson redefined journalism, there’ll never be another. The Japanese original is far superior. There’s no point owning a car in London. Benicio Del Toro is the seminal fallen hero. Hitchens is unreadable now – Orwell went the same way. Update the firmware – that’ll sort it. There was just no point finishing the PhD after that. This is absolutely the year for madrigals. So see you tomorrow, mum. youwishyouhadfriends@hotmail.co.uk
